January 16, 2022, was a historic day for the church. This was a day on which potentially thousands of pulpits were used by faithful preachers to proclaim what God’s Word has to say on sexuality in response to the Canadian government’s blatant attack on the Christian worldview by introducing what’s known as Bill C-4.

Bill C-4 is an act to amend the Criminal Code of Canada in order to criminalize conversion therapy and received royal assent on December 8, 2021. For instance, the preamble to this legislation reads:

“Whereas conversion therapy causes harm to the persons who are subjected to it; Whereas conversion therapy causes harm to society because, among other things, it is based on and propagates myths and stereotypes about sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, including the myth that heterosexuality, cisgender gender identity, and gender expression that conforms to the sex assigned to a person at birth are to be preferred over other sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions; And whereas, in light of those harms, it is important to discourage and denounce the provision of conversion therapy in order to protect the human dignity and equality of all Canadians;”

This law is designed to criminalize a Christian worldview and only opens the door to the criminalization of Christianity in Canada.

As a result of the passing of this law, the Liberty Coalition Canada published an article called Biblical Sexuality Sermon Sunday Bill C-4: How Should The Church Respond? requesting “your congregation’s help in standing against this attack upon the kingdom of Jesus Christ. We are requesting all bible believing Christian churches in Canada to unite together in faithfulness to Christian sexual ethics and the biblical gospel.

“On the first Lord’s day after the Bill C-4 comes into effect (January 16th, 2022), please publicly preach a sermon that specifically proclaims the Biblical truth that homosexuality and transgenderism are serious sins condemned by the law of God that exclude a sinner from salvation without repentance.“

This message was heard far and wide and received momentous support from many pastors across North America, including John MacArthur, who put out a call to the church asking faithful pastors everywhere to stand with pastors in Canada and proclaim God’s truth regarding biblical sexuality on January 16, 2022, a call that many answered, and, as result, God’s truth was boldly and unapologetically proclaimed from countless pulpits as a direct response to the Canadian government’s blasphemies.
